Sun City club hosts first vintage car show Nov. 5
The Vintage Vehicles of Sun City club will have its very first car show and swap meet, which will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Sun Bowl, located at 107th and Peoria avenues.
The club plans to make this an annual event, sanctioned by the Recreation Centers of Sun City.
Several Valley car clubs will display their classic vehicles.
Admission is free.
This show will award the “Top 10” awards that will be judged by the public from the hundreds of classic, muscle and antiques cars. To pre-register, go to vintagevehiclesofsuncity.com.
The cost for showing a car is $20 and participants will receive a “goody bag” that includes an event T-shirt and other items provided by sponsors.
For those “gear heads” interested in showing their car the day of the show, the registration fee is $25, if there are available spaces.
Entries are limited to the first 200 registered vehicles.
There will be several local merchant/vendors with automotive and non-automotive related products and services on display.
There also will be a designated automobile parts swap meet.
Several of the Sun City clubs will have their goods and services on display as well.
There will be a raffle, with tickets sold throughout the day. The club will give away several thousands of dollars in prizes that were donated by sponsors and the car club.
One of the “big” prizes will be a home air-conditioning system provided by Sun City Mechanical.
Tickets also will be sold for a 50/50 drawing. There will be other drawings for free items throughout the day.
The event also will feature food vendors as well as a live, local DJ, “Roy from Jazz Joy and Roy” who will play great tunes all day.
The club asks car registrants as well as the public to bring a can of food, which will be donated to the local “food bank.”
Proceeds will go toward funding the club’s future building.
There will be free visitor parking for spectators in the west parking lot of the Sun Bowl.
